Message in a Bottle

Traditions are good because they keep us connected. But when we stubbornly attach to our position and way of doing things we get in our own way. How can anything get past the "I'm right" or "we do it this way because that's the way we have always done it" attitude? It's like a dam. It's a barrier. And it's a barrier that disrupts the flow of water. Water is a vital, flowing life force.
Examine why you may have such a position in the first place. What are you threatened by and afraid of really? Get to the root of the fear. New ways of doing things just can't flow through a barrier of ego. Now I know a lot of you are saying, "I'm not in my ego." But we all get attached to our own way of doing things and that does get in our way. And the ego is good because it's the very thing that keeps us here doing our "earth school" lessons.
Sometimes, the easiest and most simple way to effect a change is just to simply agree to try a different way. If you block the flow of the water how can something as magical and special as a message in a bottle ever get to you?
And we all know that the message in the bottle is always a message of love.

Dyan...your entry comes at the perfect time. My husband's work hours have changed and he is now home in the morning. It has taken me quite sometime (until this morning actually) to allow him to do the morning routine with the girls his way so that I could sleep in a little bit. He doesn't do everything the way I would, but the girls went off to school happy with full tummies. You hit this right on the head.
